The fruit has a long, slender sigmoid shape, a large apical beak, and a base and apex that are both rounded. At maturity, it weighs well over a pound on average and can reach 2 pounds. The skin is yellow, and a lot of it usually has a bright crimson blush on it. The flesh is yellow, nearly fiberless, firm, juicy, and sweet-tasting. Inside the elongated husk is a monoembryonic seed.
